Tennessee is Offering Parents the Opportunity to Recieve Text Messages About Summer EBT

Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) has launched a SMS text conversation program to help individuals navigate the Summer EBT benefits process, receive timely updates and reminders for their Summer EBT benefits. Individuals will only be messaged through a safe, secure short code: 54783 and will never be asked for personal identifiable information.

The TDHS MSG text conversation program will send personalized reminders about your Summer EBT benefits, such as:

  • Summer EBT status updates
  • When to expect your benefits
  • Benefits reminders
  • Where to view your benefit amount

To sign up, log in to your account on the Parent Portal and click on the opt-in banner from the home page. See detailed instructions below.

Step 3: Enter your mobile number.

Step 4. Click on the checkbox.

Step 5. Submit by clicking on the opt-in button.

Can I get updates on Summer EBT via text message?

The Tennessee Department of Human Services is offering parents the opportunity to receive text messages about Summer EBT updates and program information as quickly as possible.

You can opt-in to the TDHS Summer EBT Text Messaging service by logging onto the Parent Portal and clicking on “Opt-in here” from the Parent Portal banner. By opting into the messaging service, you acknowledge you have read and agree to the Mobile Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

If you no longer wish to receive texts about your P-EBT benefits, please reply STOP. 

How do I sign up?

You can sign up directly on your Parent Portal profile within https://tdhs.service-now.com/parent and clicking on “Opt-in here” from the Parent portal banner. By opting into the messaging service, you acknowledge you have read and agree to the Mobile Terms of Service and Privacy Policy located here.

Can anyone sign up for SMS text conversations? Why do others have this service and I don’t receive SMS text conversations? 

Anyone can enroll for the Summer EBT text service, however there is specific data criteria required to be eligible for the SMS text conversations. Based on your eligibility for Summer EBT benefits, you may not receive SMS text conversations. 

How can I stop messages?

To stop messages, reply “STOP”. You will be put on the do-not-contact list if you opt-out. 

Can I re-start messages if I previously said “STOP”? 

Yes, to receive messages again, you must reply “START”.

Is this a scam?

No, these are official messages sent by the Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS). You will only receive messages from this safe, secure short code: 54783. You will never be asked to provide personally identifiable information via SMS text message.
