Problem Resolution Office

The Problem Resolution Office provides support to Tennessee taxpayers who have not been able to resolve their tax issues through the department’s normal problem resolution process by:  

• Serving as an advocate for taxpayers who have been treated in a manner inconsistent with Tennessee's tax laws, and 
• Acting as a liaison between the Department's divisions to facilitate communication and resolve tax issues.

The Problem Resolution Offices does NOT:  provide general account information or assist with filing returns; change or reinterpret Tennessee's tax laws; intercede in audits, hearings, collection cases, or requests for penalty waivers or refunds; or provide legal counsel.
