Wacker Polysilicon, UT Chattanooga and Chattanooga State Seek Veterans for Jobs and Higher Education

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs (TDVA) is partnering with nearly 40 federal, state, local public and private partners to ensure Veterans, dependents and surviving family members in Bradley, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe, Polk and Rhea Counties get access to employment opportunities, educational resources, mental health and substance abuse services, business resources and claims assistance. 

Employers such as Wacker Polysilicon, U.S. Forest Service, Tennessee Department of Correction, Tennessee Department of Human Resources and Tennessee Department of Military will participate in the event to recruit Veterans for open positions. Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security will participate to offer Commercial Driving Certification for qualified Veterans as well as recruit Veterans for open positions.

Representatives from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, as well as Chattanooga State Community College, Grantham University, Lee University, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Western Governors University will participate in the Veterans Outreach Event and Job Fair on Wednesday, October 29 from 10am to 2pm at the Tennessee National Guard Armory at 4185 Dalton Pike in Cleveland.

Partners also include Veteran supporters U.S. Senator Bob Corker, Senator Mike Bell (R-Riceville), Senator Todd Gardenhire (R-Chattanooga), Senator Ken Yager (R-Kingston), Representative Kevin Brooks (R-Cleveland), Representative John Forgerty (R-Athens), Representative Dan Howell (R-Georgetown), Representative Jimmy Matlock (R-Lenoir City) and Representative Ron Travis (R-Dayton).

Veterans will need to present a copy of their DD-214 and any other service related documents to assist with filing claims for federal benefits.
