NASHVILLE – In accordance with protocol, inmate Billy Ray Irick #113945 was moved to death watch last night at 11:30 p.m. Death watch is the three-day period before an execution when strict guidelines are implemented to maintain the security and control of the offender and to maintain safe and orderly operations of the prison.

The witnesses were randomly selected from applications from recognized Tennessee news organizations to serve as statutorily required witnesses.

TIPTONVILLE – Last week, the leadership of Northwest Correctional Complex (NWCX) held a Beat the Heat Staff Appreciation event. With temperatures in the upper 90’s and heat indexes between 105-110, the members of the NWCX Training Department made refreshing sno-cones for the facility staff.
KNOXVILLE – Last Thursday, the Tennessee Department of Correction’s Knoxville Day Reporting Center (DRC) held its first graduation ceremony. A total of twelve clients were honored for last night, marking almost of year of sobriety for them all and the completion of the three-phase intensive, substance abuse treatment program.
PIKEVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Correction along with Assistant Commissioner David Sexton has invited local leaders from Pikeville and Bledsoe County to visit the Bledsoe County Correctional Complex (BCCX) to officially meet newly appointed warden Kevin Hampton.
KNOXVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Correction’s Day Reporting Center (DRC) in Knoxville will be holding a graduation ceremony to honor the ten clients who have successfully completed the program. Throughout the last ten months, these graduates have successfully completed all three phases of the intensive, substance abuse treatment program and maintained their sobriety.
