Chronic Disease

A chronic disease is any condition not passed from person to person and that persists for long periods of time. Examples of chronic diseases are hypertension, stroke, arthritis, cancer, type 2 diabetes, and asthma. For people diagnosed with a chronic disease, proper management can help improve quality of life.

Sooner or later, something is going to go wrong for a lot of Tennesseans, all at the same time . It could be a tornado outbreak, a winter storm, an earthquake, another flood, or something none of us has even considered. These types of disasters are especially hard on senior citizens and people with special needs. Learn how to plan for people who may need extra help when the worst happens.

Elder Abuse

Our senior population is growing rapidly. Sadly, the number of people who want to take advantage of seniors is also growing. Learn the signs of abuse and what you can do to help prevent and stop it.

Fall Prevention

Palliative Care and Quality of Life Advisory Council

The State Palliative Care and Quality of Life Advisory Council was created by the Tennessee General Assembly as a result of Chapter 955 of the Public Acts of 2018. The purpose of the council is to continually assess the status of palliative care, including barriers to care, in Tennessee.
