Woodworking

Joseph OBrien, USDA Forest Service, Bugwood.org

It is a well-known fact that abnormalities on trees can make some very interesting wood crafts. Burls, cracks, holes and discoloration are often desired by wood workers because of the uniqueness of the product. But these abnormalities may be the result of forest pests lurking in the tree. These pests can be transported hundreds of miles through raw wood working material. Please take the time to research the origins of your next wood working material prior to transport as it may come from an area under regulation.
